  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 4 oz. mild chopped green chiles
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup Monterrey Jack cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1214 medium flour tortillas
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Cayenne pepper or hot sauce, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, salsa, chopped green chiles, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, oregano, and salt.
  2. Fold in Monterrey Jack and sharp cheddar cheeses until well mixed.
  3. Warm tortillas slightly to make them pliable. Spoon 2 tablespoons of filling on one side of each tortilla and roll tightly.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry flautas seam-side down until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
  5. Drain on paper towels before serving with sour cream and hot sauce.
