  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Candy eyeballs and/or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 275°F (135°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a metal or glass bowl, beat egg whites on medium-low until frothy (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add cream of tartar and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time, mixing until dissolved.
  5. Increase speed to medium and beat until stiff peaks form (about 3 minutes).
  6. Gently fold in vanilla extract.
  7. Transfer meringue into a piping bag and pipe ghost shapes onto prepared sheets.
  8. Decorate with candy eyes or chocolate chips.
  9. Bake for about 1 hour until dry, then leave in the oven off for an additional hour to cool.
