  • 5 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 and 1/2 cups salted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp salted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • pinch of fine sea salt
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×13 inch pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine melted butter with remaining crust ingredients until fully mixed.
  4. Press about two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan; top with the apple filling and sprinkle remaining crust mixture over.
  5. Bake for 38-45 minutes until golden brown on top and apples are tender.
  6. Prepare salted caramel sauce while baking, then drizzle over cooled bars before serving.
